Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2021) is one of the national level entrance examination. It is conducted every year jointly by Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore & one of the IITs.

IIT Bombay is the conducting body of GATE 2021. The exam is a gateway to get admission in Master’s programs and direct doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science. GATE 2021 Exam Dates

GATE 2021 Application Form

Candidates must go through the application guidelines which are given below before proceeding for the application form filling:

  • Candidates have to register and fill the application form through online mode at GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
  • The online GATE 2021 application form is made available from 11th September 2020 to 8th October 2020.
  • Last date to submit the application form with late fee will be 12th October 2020.
  • Candidates also have to upload the certificates/ documents, etc. in online mode only.
  • The photograph, signature, certificate of qualifying degree, category certificate (SC/ST/PwD) and/or Dyslexic certificate, wherever applicable, must be uploaded during the online application.
  • Candidate can appear in one or two papers. Students can appear for two papers as per the prescribed set of combinations.
  • The candidates should not send any hard copy of application form/documents etc. to the conducting institution or any of the zonal GATE offices.

  • The fee can be paid in electronic mode.
  • The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable.
  • Payments have to be made online by using either net banking or debit card or credit card.

GATE 2021 Application Form Correction

IIT Bombay will provide the GATE Application Correction facility on its official website (www.gate.iitb.ac.in) through online mode. The correction will be provided in some fields only.

Candidates have to rectify the defects in the application before the stipulated deadline. The application form correction can be done till 13th November 2020.

Failing to rectify the defects within the stipulated time can lead to the rejection of the application and no further communication will be entertained in this regard.

GATE 2021 Exam Pattern

Here, candidates can check the complete GATE Exam pattern in the below given section:

  • Mode: The exam will be conducted in online (CBT) mode.
  • No of Subject Papers: The exam will be conducted for 27 subject papers. Two new subject papers – Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) and Humanities & Social Sciences (XS) have been added this year.
  • Type of Questions: The questions will of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) & Numerical Answer type (NAT).
  • Type of Sections: There will be two of types of sections in each paper – Compulsory & Optional.
  • Duration of Exam: The exam will be of total 3 hours.
  • Maximum marks: The question paper will be of 100 marks.
  • No. of Questions: The question paper will consist of 65 questions.
  • Marking Scheme: For MCQs and NATs, various questions will be of 1 or 2 marks. In MCQs of 1 mark, 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong responses. For MCQs of 2 mark, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. There will be no negative marking for numerical type questions.

 Note: There will be NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions.

GATE 2021 Syllabus

The GATE Syllabus will be provided by the official authority. Two new subjects (Environmental Science & Engineering and Humanities & Social Sciences) have been added in the syllabus of GATE 2021.

Answer: The application form of GATE has been provided in online mode. No offline applications will be accepted.

GATE 2021 Admit Card

The GATE 2021 admit card would be available through online mode on GOAPS website. No printed copy of the admit cards will be released by the authority.

The candidates have to appear at the examination centre on the date and time specified in the admit card. No request for any changes in the centre or date/time specified in the admit card will be entertained.

The admit card will be available for download from 8th January 2021. Candidates should carry printout of the downloaded admit card to the examination for the verification along with the original and valid photo Identity proof.

GATE 2021 Answer Key

After the GATE 2021 examinations, candidates’ responses will be available at GOAPS. Candidates can get it by entering their login details.

GATE answer keys for various papers will be displayed in GATE website. Candidates may submit their queries on the answer keys in a given time period after the payment. Evaluation of examination papers will be finalized and score will be released.

GATE 2021 Result

GATE results will be released by the official authority in the 22nd March 2021. It will be available on the GATE 2021 website.

Candidates can get the result by entering their login details. It will show the qualifying status of the candidate. It is necessary to keep the result till the admission process gets over.

GATE 2021 Score Card

The GATE score card will show the relative performance of the candidate in a particular subject. GATE 2021 score will be valid for 3years from the date of announcement of the results.

The GATE 2021 scorecards can be downloaded between from 26th March to 31st May 2021.

The GATE scorecard will be printed with the photograph that candidate has submitted at the time of filing application form. GATE qualified candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 500 those want to get a soft copy of his/her GATE Scorecard after last week of May 2021.

GATE 2021 Counselling

The Centralized Counseling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. will be organized by the CCMT 2021. The admission will be offered based on candidate’s GATE score of years 2019, 2020 and 2021, in all universities & colleges.

To participate in the counselling, candidates have to pay the counselling registration fee. The process for centralized admission to postgraduate programs will start from second week of April 2021.

The counselling process will be comprised of three stages that are online Registration, Choice Filling and Locking of Choices, Online Seat Allotment, Seat Acceptance fee deposit and Physical Reporting at a Reporting Center (RC) and Getting Admitted to Allotted Institute.

GATE 2021 Admission

After appearing in the counselling successfully, the candidates can download their Provisional Admission Letter (PAL). Candidates have to report physically at the allotted institute for admission.

The candidates have to report with DVC issued by the RC and PAL downloaded from the CCMT-2021 website. They also have to carry the other documents notified by the respective institutes in their website.

Before reporting to allotted institute, the candidates will have to pay balance admission fee (if applicable) in the mode prescribed by the respective institutes in their website.
