MU OET 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus for B.Tech courses will be comprises of physics, chemistry, mathematics and English subjects. Syllabus will vary as per the courses. Below we have provided the detailed MU OET 2019 Syllabus.

Physics:

Kinematics – Motion in a straight line, Elementary concepts of differentiation and integration for describing motion, uniformly accelerated motion, Scalar and vector quantities, relative velocity, Unit vector, etc.

Units and Measurement – Systems of units, fundamental and derived units, accuracy and precision of measuring instruments, Dimensions of physical quantities, etc.

Work and Energy – kinetic energy, work-energy theorem, potential energy of a spring, conservative forces, non-conservative forces, etc.

Laws of Motion – Inertia, Newton’s first law of motion, Law of conservation of linear momentum and its applications. Equilibrium of concurrent forces, laws of friction, rolling friction, etc.

Gravitation – Universal law of gravitation, Gravitational potential energy and gravitational potential, escape velocity, etc.

Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body – Ccentre of mass of a uniform rod, Moment of a force, torque, angular momentum, comparison of linear and rotational motions, etc.

Atomic structure – Atomic number and atomic mass, Balmer series, Paschen series, Brackett series and Pfund series, Explanation of origin of lines in hydrogen spectrum etc.

Solutions – Molarity, molality, normality, mole fraction, Vapour pressure of solutions and Raoult’s law, depression of freezing point, elevation of boiling point, osmotic pressure, etc.

Chemical Kinetics – Commercial importance of rate studies, First order reaction, numerical problems, Determination of the order of a reaction by the graphical and the Ostwald’s isolation method. fractional order and pseudo first order reactions with illustrations, etc.

Chemical thermodynamics – State functions, Spontaneous and non-spontaneous processes, First law of thermodynamics -internal energy and enthalpy, enthalpy of bond dissociation, combustion, formation, etc.

Periodic properties – Modern periodic law and present form of periodic table, comparison of size of cation and anion with the parent atom, Ionization energy, electron affinity, etc.

Environmental chemistry – Atmospheric pollution – tropospheric and stratospheric, Greenhouse effect and global warming, Particulate pollutants – smoke, dust, smog, fumes, mist, their sources, etc.

Basic principles of organic chemistry – Shapes of simple molecules – hybridization, compounds containing halogens, oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur, isomerism – structural and stereoisomerism, etc.

Aldehyde and Ketones – Relative reactivities of aldehydes and ketones, important reactions such as nucleophilic addition, Cannizzaro reaction, Haloform reaction, etc.

Polymers – General methods of polymerization – addition and condensation, copolymerization, some important polymers with emphasis on their monomers and uses, natural and synthetic rubber and vulcanization, etc.

Mathematics:

Algebra – Complex numbers and quadratic equations, Permutations and combinations, Sequence and series, Determinants, Principle of mathematical induction, Linear inequalities, Binomial theorem.

Calculus – Continuity and differentiability, Integrals, Limits and derivatives, Applications of derivatives, Differential equations, Applications of the integrals, etc.

Statistics and Probability – Mean deviation, variance and standard deviation, Analysis of frequency distributions, outcomes, sample spaces, exhaustive events, mutually exclusive events, Probability of an event, probability of ‘not’, ‘and’, & ‘or’ events.

Linear Programming – Objective function, optimization, mathematical formulation of L.P. problems, graphical method of solution, feasible and infeasible solution, etc.

Mathematical Reasoning – Connecting words/phrases, Validating the statements involving the connecting words – difference between contradiction, converse and contrapositive.

Coordinate Geometry, Vectors and Three-Dimensional Geometry – Straight lines, Vectors, Three-dimensional geometry, Conic sections, ellipse, parabola, hyperbola, a point, a straight line and pair of intersecting lines, etc.

English:

Modals (have to/had to, must, should, need, ought to and their negative forms), Usages in English, Use of proper tense and sequence of tense, Determiners/ Use of proper articles, Vocabulary, Subject – verb concord, Sentence structure, Clauses, Pronouns, etc.

Syllabus for B.Pharm (PCB combination):

The syllabus will have topics from physics, chemistry, engilsh and biology subjects. The syllabus for English, Physics and Chemistry subjects will be same as B.Tech syllabus. The detailed topics for biology subjects are mentioned below:
