IIT JAM Exam Pattern 2019 is different as per the courses opted by the students. The IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is a national level entrance test conducted by the IISc and IITs on rotation basis. For the year 2019, IIT JAM exam is administrated by the IIT, Kharagpur. Candidates seeking for admissions in PG and Ph.D courses offered by IITs and IISc are required to clear the IIT JAM examination. Here in this article, we are providing details about IIT JAM 2019 Exam Pattern.
IIT JAM Exam Pattern 2019
The IIT JAM examination comprises of seven test papers. This examination will be organized through online mode (computer based test) on 10th February 2019. The question paper will be asked in English language. The exam duration will be total three hours. The question paper has been divided into total three sections, A, B and C. The details of three sections are mentioned below:
Section – A:
This section will have total 30 MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions). Each question will carry one or two marks. Each question will contain four optional answers, students have to choose the right answer only. Candidates can answer by clicking the given choices.
Section – B:
It will contain total 10 MSQ (Multiple Select Questions). Each question will carry two marks. Each question will contain four given choices out of which more than one choice(s) can be correct. Candidates will get full marks if all the correct answers are selected. Two marks will be given for each correct answer.

Section- C:
This section will consist of 20 NAT (Numerical Answer Type) questions. Each question will carry one or two marks. No options will be displayed for these types of questions. Candidates have to answer by pressing the number through the virtual numeric keypad.

IIT JAM 2019 Marking Scheme
Each section will contain total 60 questions which carry 100 marks. There is no negative marking in the Section B & C but negative marking will be done for Section A. In section A, for the 1 mark question, 1/3 of marks will be deducted and for 2 marks questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for each incorrect response. No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.
