JEST 2021: Application Form, Exam Dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus

JEST 2021JEST 2021 exam will be conducted by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB). It is a national level entrance examination which is conducted every year. Admission will be offered in Ph.D. and integrated Ph.D. courses in physics or theoretical computer science and or neuroscience or computational biology. JEST 2021 Application Form

Candidates can check complete details about JEST application form from below:

  • Application form will be released in second week of November 2020.
  • Candidates can fill their application form through online mode. Any other mode will not be entertained.
  • Fill asked details carefully including education, personal, address, communication and etc.
  • Upload the documents like passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed size.
  • Candidates can fill their application form till the second week of December 2020.
  • Candidates must take printout of the application form and keep it secure for other procedure.

Application Fee:

  • Application fee will be paid through online mode using debit card/ credit card or net banking.
  • Fee will be non-refundable in nature.

JEST Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must go through the following JEST 2021 eligibility criteria before filling the application form:

  • Ph.D. Physics: Candidates must have passed M.Sc. in physics from any recognized institute.
  • Some institutes will also accept M.Tech/ B.Tech/ M.Sc. / M.E. in applied physics and mathematics.
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience at NBRC: Candidates must hold computer science degree in B.E. / B.Tech. / BCA.
  • Ph.D in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc: Candidates must have passed M.Tech/ M.E. / MCA/ M/Sc. in science with good mathematical skill and interest in biological problems.
  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology at IMSc: Candidates must pass M.Sc. / M.Tech/ M.E. / MCA degree with mathematical skill and strong interest in biological problems.
  • Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc: Candidates must have passed B.Tech/ B.E. / B.Sc. / MCA in computer science or related disciplines.
  • Integrated M.Tech Ph.D. at IIA: Candidates must pass M.Sc. (physics/ applied physics) / post B.Sc. (Hons.) in optics and optoelectronics/ radio physic and electronics.

JEST 2021 Exam Pattern

In this section we have given details about JEST exam pattern:

  • Mode of Exam: Examination will be conducted through offline (pen or paper based) mode.
  • Type of Question: Multiple choice questions will be asked in the examination.
  • Language: Questions will be asked in English language only.
  • Sections: Paper will be divided in three sections- part A, part B, part C.
  • Time Duration: Total 3 hours will be provided to solve question paper.
  • Marking Scheme: In part A and B, 3 marks will be provided and in part C, 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: In part A, 1 mark and in part C, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be no negative marking in part B.

JEST syllabus will be based on graduation and post-graduation level. Candidates can prepare topic from the physics, electronics, mechanics, mathematics, statistical physics, quantum mechanics, electromagnetism and optics and etc.

JEST 2021 Answer Key

JEST answer key will be release by the authorities in fourth week of February 2021. Candidates can check answer key through online mode. Through the answer key candidates can get an estimate idea of their marks.

Answer key will contain correct answer of the questions. Candidates can also submit objections against the answer key. After that final answer key will be released by the authorities.

JEST 2021 Result

JEST result will be published in fourth week of March 2021. Candidates can check their result by entering login details like user ID and password. Result will be declared through online mode only.

JEST 2021 Cut Off

JEST cut off will be released through online mode. After few days of the examination authorities will release cut off. Candidates must have to qualify cut off marks to be eligible for admission.

Cut off will be released on the basis of total availability of seats, difficulty level of examination and etc. Based on the cut off marks candidates will be called for the counselling.

JEST 2021 Counselling

JEST counselling will be organized by different participated institutes. No centralized counsellingwill be conducted by the authorities. Candidates will have to report separately to the institute in which they want to get admission.

Candidates must have to bring their original documents for verification process. Without verification of the documents seat will not be allotted to the candidates.
