Admission Procedure
Admissions in B.Tech course is done through entrance tests organized at national and university level. Students can also apply for admission in the lateral entry in B.Tech through the state level entrance exam. Some colleges may also offer admission on the basis of merit list of the qualifying exam.
Entrance Exams
Most of the colleges consider the JEE Main 2019 scores for providing admission in engineering courses. UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) organizes the UKSEE 2019 exam to offer admission for lateral entry in B.Tech courses.
Students looking for admission in UPES may appear for the UPESEAT (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test). Students with a higher rank is preferred for admission.

Uttarakhand has many top governments and private engineering colleges. Some top engineering institutions are Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, etc.
B.Tech Admission 2019
Students can apply for admission in B.Tech course after completing their 12th exams. Before appearing for the entrance test, students must check their eligibility.
Here we are providing the eligibility criteria for JEE Main exam:
- Candidates must have passed 12th/diploma or any equivalent exam in the year 2017 & 2018 from any recognized board or institution.
- Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
- The date of birth should come on or after 1st October 1994 (general candidates) and 1st October 1989 (reserved categories).
- Candidates must have physics, chemistry & mathematics subjects in the qualifying exam.
Selection Procedure
Admission can be done through entrance test or merit list of the qualifying exam. Students will be able to participate in the counselling process as per their rank.
Candidates have to fill their choices of colleges and courses at the time of counselling. Seats will be allotted to students on the basis of rank, filled choices and availability of seats. For admission in IIT & NIT, students have to participate in the JoSAA counselling.
Documents Required
Candidates have to carry their original documents and their photocopies for the verification process. Without document verification, admission will not be given. Here we have listed some documents required at the time of verification:
- 10th & 12th class mark sheet
- 10th & 12th class passing certificate
- Score card & admit card of the entrance test (if required)
- Character certificate
- Transfer certificate
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Domicile certificate (for state quota)
